Congratulations TCM runners!

Congratulations especially to Paul on successfully racing his first marathon. We first saw Paul at Nokomis, and although he was more focused than to greet us by pretending his hands were six-shooters, I was happy to see that he looked like the Big Chillin', relaxed, on cruise control. Paul maintained a placid countenance until mile twenty-one, where a look of aggressive focus accompanied his implacable stride. This is where Paul started to eat the competition, passing people left and right. The man could not be stopped. On Summit, Paul opened his mouth a little wider, perhaps to suck in more oxygen or to avoid grinding his teeth. Whatever the case, it worked. As the mileage continued to reel in runners, Paul defied the lure of fatigue. The downhill by the cathedral elicited a grimace from quads crying for mercy. With the marathon finished, Paul had to complete the straight-legged walk to the car and journey a couch.
In other news:
On Friday night, I watched the Chinese Connection. Good stuff.
On Saturday, we went to Whistle Farm to pick Honeycrisp apples and then to Afton to enjoy a hike in the absurdly nice weather.
Also on Saturday, the Huskers defeated the Cyclones of Iowa State University in overtime. Rejoice, rejoice, again I say rejoice.
On Saturday night we basked in the company of Steve, Yarrow, Liz, Megan, Tim, John, Mike B and peeps. Good times.
