i recently finished reading steppenwolf by hermann hesse. it was an enjoyable read. harry haller is the steppenwolf, an individual torn between self as wolf and self as man. really he is torn among a thousand selves, a thousand identities, a thousand natures. the steppenwolf is on one hand demure, sociable, and intellectual, listening to classical music and schooled in classics and philosophy, and on the other hand the steppenwolf is incredibly disgusted with everything human, desperately antisocial, and uncontrollably destructive. then the steppenwolf meets a very unique girl. before you know it the steppenwolf is dancing and reveling in sex. way to go steppenwolf. the book ends with a crazy, jazzy, dance club party followed by a series of drug-induced revelations. i have also read siddhartha by hermann hesse. it's nice to compare the two.
tuesday's truism: homosexuality is not natural, much like abominable floral pattern polyester shirts, pacemakers, twinkies, and nuclear weapons.
