When arguing for no new taxes, Minnesota Governor Tim "Fees and Gimmicks" Pawlenty is wont to cite a study by the unbiased Census Bureau that ranks Minnesota as the state with the 4th highest taxes. I looked at the study. Minnesota is 4th in the nation in state revenue per capita.
I recommend perusing the data on this site:

Thoughts on the NBA:
I just watched the end of the Suns-Spurs game. The spurs have taken a 2 game lead in the series. I commented earlier on the importance of skank for success in the NBA, and the often foolish application of thug. Tonight, Nash provided his usual dosage of skank, but it wasn't enough. The spurs can't go skank for skank with the Suns, I'm not sure that any team can. In my opinion, Robert Horry provides the necessary skank for the Spurs. Off the bench, he hit big shots, prompted a technical foul, and drew a skanky charge in the fourth quarter. It was crunch time skank. The suns misapplied thug when Stoudamire got pissed and committed the technical.
At this time, I'd like to add another key component for NBA success, and that component is balls. You need balls to succeed. The Pistons have Teyshawn Prince (huge balls). The heat have Wade (enormous balls). For the spurs, that person is Manu Ginobili. At first, you might classify his as skank, but this is inaccurate. Manu is 100% balls. That brings us the to the recipe for NBA success: Skank, Balls, and a pinch of thug. And of course you need a stud.
For proof, i offer up the Bulls, the dominant team of the 90's. The stud was obvious. Rodman applied thug at the right moments, and he was almost in Nash's league when it comes to skank. Scottie Pippen could be assumed to be balls, but he was also skank. The man drew charges, bounched passes to himself off peoples backs, and went glass at ridiculous times. Jordan had unchartable balls. Also, Kukoc, Kerr, BJ Armstrong, Paxson- balls galore. Bill Wennington, Will Perdue, Luc Longley- three headed skankery. You might think Jordan was the key to success. No. The Bulls could hardly fit their balls on the team bus and were dripping skank.
